The Character of Thomas - 11 - a skilled negotiator Message List

John 11:16
Therefore Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, "Let us
also go, so that we may die with Him."

Thomas prepared Himself, took his own decision, then he set out to prepare the
others, who are still undecided.

He lays it out to them as it is. We have followed Him thus far. We have left
everything behind just to be with Him. We have nothing with us other than Him.
You have seen Him talk, you have seen Him work. He is the Son of God. He is our
Savior. He is indeed the Messiah we were waiting for.

If you follow Him, I know that you will suffer, you will have have endless
trials, and you will be killed.

But really, we have nowhere to go without Him. If we do not follow Him, we will
lose life even if we think we saved it. For He is the way, the truth and the
Life. There is no life without Him. We cannot do anything without Him. He is our
life indeed.

Do not be doubters, but be believers in Christ. "Let us also go so that we may
die with Him". We have been together with Him in life, let us be together with
Him in death.

This verse is an indication of a negotiation that happened in their midst at
that time. The disciples are undecided about what to do. The fear for their
lives is real. At this time, Thomas is making the case for Christ. He convinces
them to arrive at a consensus. His negotiation for Christ won the others over.

Our Catholicose made the same case for Christ when he established the Church in
the East. He still makes the case for Christ before us. May his prayers be our
refuge.

Christ is Risen!
