The Missionary Vs Christ - 6

The Missionary shouts abuses about other faiths to an ignorant
audience and threatens hellfire if his words are not heeded.
The other faith groups get defensive. They start talking ill of, and
abusing the Missionary's group and Christianity in general. All
Christians become villains due to the deeds of a handful few
misled "missionaries". Some of the youth in that "other" group take
the law into their own hands, there is violence -- the Missionary is
injured. The Missionary next advertises that he has been "tortured
for Christ"!

Now is that tortured "for" Christ, or is it "torturing" Christ?

The Missionary does not think twice before bringing disrepute to
Christ's name. It is not his agenda to see the consequence of his
actions on fellow human beings. Tolerance is not a virtue in
his book.

Christ died asking His Father to forgive His tormentors. He was
sinless, yet He suffered for our sake. On the other hand, many of
the so called missionaries sow hatred, so they reap hatred, and
so many sincere people working for the Lord also suffer due their
mindless fanaticism.

Live your life such that it inspires others to live likewise and do
good, your life may be the only Bible the others may ever read in
their life(From Chicken Soup for the Soul)

Gregorian Study Circle is doing a great job learning about the works
of HG Paulose Mar Gregorios. Recently I read a message there that
said --
"Someone once described evangelism as "One beggar telling another
beggar where to get bread." To a hungry beggar, that is good news.
And a beggar telling another beggar such news can hardly
boast about it, or claim to be superior because of it.

Borrowing from a Sir Don Bradman's quote, "We are all custodians of
the game, and the game will prosper if we can leave it better than
we found it." Sadly the missionary of today really murders the game,
yet we look the other way.

==============================================

Dear readers, thank you for bearing with me.
This series, apart from giving vent to my feelings and
touching on an inner dilemma that I have known for some time now,
also has been an instrument that I tried to use to learn more about
the truth. I appreciate the responses from several members and
acknowledge that each of them have helped me grow. Please do
meditate on these and do let me know your comments; it will be
useful to me.

As you would see, I have serious differences with the principles and approach
of the typical missionary of today; and as you would have guessed, the
stage of learning in life that I am in now, I am not for the
missionary, because I am for Christ.
